The Jane Lew Public Service District is now accepting applications/resumes for the General Utility Technician position. This position is an on-call, at-will, full-time job with mandatory overtime, as needed. Weekends are rotated, and you will be scheduled to work every other weekend unless arrangements have been made ahead of time for someone to cover your shift.

Job Description/Overview:

• Preventive maintenance and routine repairs on equipment, pants, vehicles, buildings, parking and walking areas, lights, signs, culverts, water and sewer lines.

• Maintaining a clean and safe working environment at all District sites, including mowing, trimming, snow removal, scrubbing, disinfecting, painting, and routine cleaning.

• Investigating leak reports and repairing the lines.

• Assisting with the installation of taps for new water and/or sewer customers.

• Inspecting and testing meters for accuracy.

• Reading meters monthly.

• Performing routine operations such as pumping, monitoring, and testing chemical levels and water pressure and recording data.

• Perform other duties as assigned by the General Manager or Chief Water Operator, such as field service work.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent.

• MUST HAVE a valid WV motor vehicle operator driver's license.

• Ability to perform physical labor indoors and outside, during hot/cold/wet/dry weather.

• Good communication and customer service skills, in dealing with the public.

• Basic mathematical, logical, and reasoning skills.

• Previous experience in water/wastewater is a plus but not required. However, a willingness to learn and an open mind are strongly recommended.
